Sevan Kabakian, Country Director, has always been a great enthusiast of Armenian youth. Born in Lebanon, he has lived in Los Angeles for over 25 years. While there, he has worked with the local Armenian Youth Federation badanees (Juniors) in Glendale, aiming to instill in them a sense of pride, duty and responsibility towards Armenian issues. Sevan strongly believes that a material connection to Armenia is a vital and irreplaceable source of strength for Armenian youth living in the Diaspora.
Sevan has an undergraduate degree from UCLA and a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering from USC. Upon graduation, he worked as an engineer in flight performance at McDonnell Douglas/Boeing. He is joined in Armenia by his wife, Klariss, and three young daughters, Naro, Naneh and Lalig.
Diana Babayan, Administrative Specialist and Volunteer Coordinator, holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations and European Studies from Central European University and a second Master’s Degree in European Interdisciplinary Studies from College of Europe. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Linguistics/ Translation and Interpretation from Yerevan State Linguistic University. During her undergraduate studies she did an exchange program in Journalism at the University of Missouri. Diana has completed several internships at both local and international organisations. She has also worked as a Research Fellow at European Friends of Armenia. Diana has a passion for travelling, nature and lifelong learning.
Vardanyan, Operations Specialist, holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Philology and Literature from the Yerevan State University. Hayk attended a US high school for a full academic year of 2005-2006 FLEX program. In 2008 Hayk completed his two-year military service at the Ministry
of National Security and Internal Affairs. After having successfully passed one year Arts Management and Cultural
Policy Course, Hayk started working in the
International Relations Department at the HIGHFEST International Performing Arts
Festival and the Yerevan State Chamber Theatre. Hayk loves poetry and
particularly Korean poetry of the 20th century, practices archery
and enjoys the culture of Bonsai and Saikei.
Marianna Vardanyan, Social Media & PR Coordinator, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Affairs from the European Regional Educational Academy. After work she attends Art Criticism and Cultural Studies graduate program at the Institute of Contemporary Art of Armenia. In 2009-2010 Marianna was an exchange student at Lewis and Clark College, Portland, OR, studying Political Science and Communications. Marianna had a one-year internship at the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Armenia. Other than this, Marianna enjoys literature, design and photography. Only good work leads to doing more good work, Marianna believes.
Tigran Gevorgyan, Host Family and Language Program Coordinator, holds a Bachelor’s degree in IT Management from the European Regional Educational Academy. In 2005-2006 Tigran was an exchange student through the FLEX (Future Leader Exchange) program at Kirtland Central high School in Kirtland, New Mexico. In 2009 Tigran completed his two-year military service at the Ministry of National Security and Internal Affairs. In 2011 Tigran received a presidential award as one of the best IT students of Armenia. Tigran worked in the field of IT for the past seven years. Other then this, Tigran is an actor at a local thearter, enjoys swimming and follows tech news.
Shoghik Chilingarian, Alumni Program Coordinator,has always been enthusiastic to be part of the thriving culture
in Armenia. Born in Yerevan, she has lived in Los Angeles for over 20 years.
While there, she has worked with Ark Family Center, Inc. in Glendale, aiming to
support individuals to achieve their greatest potential. Shoghik believes that healing
the past widens a clear road to create new possibilities.
has an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona and a Certification
as a Professional Life Coach with IIPC International. In 2009, Shoghik
participated in Birthright Armenia and returned to Armenia again in 2011 to
realize her Next Step project, sponsored by Birthright Armenia’s Alumni Fund.
In 2012, she was invited to represent Armenia among 50 countries at the
