With the help of alum, Ani Jilozian's (BR/AVC '07), the Women's Support Center - Yerevan, Armenia just launched a campaign to raise funds for women and children at their shelter. Internationally, the holidays tend to be the time when domestic violence support centers receive higher numbers of survivors seeking refuge and support. The government currently doesn't allocate any funds for shelters for survivors of domestic violence and their children, and the Women’s Support Center has been overburdened with so many women coming to them recently for help. The campaign aims to raise $6,000 and the funds will be invested into developing welcoming kits for all women and children who need shelter services in 2016. These kits will include a toothbrush and toothpaste, soap, shampoo and conditioner, a comb, feminine hygiene, undergarments, towels, and more. A small gift of $30 will support one woman or child with a full welcoming kit.
